NEW Workshop Offering!

Caring for Myself Postpartum

There are many ways people try to prepare before having a baby: taking birthing classes, building furniture and setting up the nursery, learning how to care for a newborn. But what about preparing to care for yourself? The postpartum period is full of changes and challenges, and statistics show us that 1 in 5 women experience clinically significant anxiety and depression while pregnant and postpartum. With this 1-hour workshop, conveniently offered virtually for your ever-busy schedule, you can learn about the impacts of pregnancy and postpartum on your mental health, what are “normal” experiences during this period, and when you should reach out for help. You will leave the workshop with an understanding of what this time period will be like, and specific and concrete ways to care for yourself and help buffer yourself from some of the challenges during this time. You take care of everything else before baby arrives- don’t forget to plan to care for yourself.

About me

Dr. Slochowsky is a licensed clinical psychologist living in New York and licensed in New York, Connecticut, and Florida (telehealth). A born and bred New Yorker, she attended the University of Maryland for her undergraduate education, where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a minor in Human Development. There, she solidified her passion and desire to become a psychologist and work with women after volunteering in a women’s domestic abuse shelter for a year and a half. While attending LIU Post for her Master’s in Applied Psychology and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she worked in a wide array of settings in New York. She completed her doctoral internship at Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital focusing on women and geriatric populations, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in Primary Care Health Psychology.

Dr. Slochowsky is passionate about working with women. Psychology as a science was created by men for men, and historically women’s issues were inappropriately pathologized. Many of the challenges that face women are often overlooked in the psychological world, and Dr. Slochowsky aims to ensure that women receive the care that they need and deserve.
